About Us

Dignity Foundation is a non profit organisation working with senior citizens across India since 1996. Our vision is to change the way we look at ageing in India by enabling older persons to live with dignity, companionship, purpose and active participation. We work with seniors from diverse social and economic backgrounds, including older persons seeking meaningful engagement and community, as well as underprivileged, vulnerable and socially isolated elders who need care, support and access to essential services.

What We Do

Dignity Foundation develops programmes that respond to the changing needs of older persons and help them remain connected, active and independent.

  • Geriatric Day Care Centres that provide a safe, supportive and engaging space for seniors.

  • Dementia Day Care Centres offering structured care, activities, therapies and support for persons living with dementia and their families.

  • Loneliness Mitigation Centres that create opportunities for companionship, social interaction and meaningful engagement.

  • Chai Masti Centres that promote active ageing, social connection and community participation.

  • Shelter Homes Programme supporting homeless and vulnerable older persons with care, nutrition, healthcare and other essential services.

  • Anand Daan providing food and ration support to elders facing financial hardship.

  • Recreational and Wellness Programmes encouraging physical activity, creativity, cultural participation and emotional wellbeing.

  • Geriatric Mobile Physiotherapytherapy Services helping seniors access mobility and rehabilitation support.

  • Active and Productive Ageing Programmes enabling older persons to continue learning, participating, contributing and leading purposeful lives.

Why We Do It

Ageing should not mean isolation, invisibility or loss of purpose. We believe every older person deserves to be treated with respect and given opportunities to remain connected, active and valued. Through our programmes and community based interventions, Dignity Foundation works to build a society where older persons can age with dignity, care, companionship, independence and purpose, regardless of their income or circumstances.

Our Leadership

We believe that leadership is never singular. It starts with our managing team that is designed to provide thought leadership to all the programmes which we initiate in our 6 city chapters.

What is Productive Ageing

Obstacles to Productive Ageing

Lack of Infrastructure

Limited access to elder friendly infrastructure, care services, public support, accessible transport and age friendly spaces can make everyday life more difficult for older persons.

Elder Abuse and Neglect

Some older persons experience physical, emotional or financial abuse, neglect and exploitation, sometimes within their own families. Awareness, protection and accessible support systems are essential to safeguard their dignity and wellbeing.

Loneliness and Social Isolation

Changing family structures, migration and increasing distances between generations can leave older persons with fewer opportunities for regular social interaction and companionship, increasing the risk of loneliness and isolation.

Our Culture

At Dignity Foundation, our work is driven by five crucial values – Equality, Simplicity, Positive thinking, Self-belief and Perseverance.
