As dignity foundation is committed to the cause of Senior Citizens, it
is apt to celebrate "World Alzheimer's Day" since it is known
as the disease of old age.
To celebrate "World Alzheimer's Day", on 19th September we decided
to take a 'Memory Drive', for 'Massive Awareness Building' about Alzheimer
in Mumbai City. For the purpose, we hired a double decker open bus and
driven to the various parts of Mumbai city. It began at 12-30 pm from Colaba
bus depot through Cuff Parade, Nariman Point, Churchgate, Tardeo, Haji
Ali, Worli, Dadar, Mahim, Bandra, Santacruz, Vile Parle and it ended at
Andheri bus depot at around 8-00 pm. The 'Memory Drive' stopped for 20
minutes to each stop to distribute the leaflets explaining what is Alzheimer
and how it affects human beings. We had made an arrangement for the memory
test conducted by qualified psychologist in the bus itself.
The Chief Dignatarians and Volunteers were the heroes of the event. The commitment,
dedication, and the sincere efforts of the volunteers, staff, and team, of
course, under the dynamic and charismatic leadership of Dr. Sheilu Shrineevasan,
we were able to reach out thousands of people of Mumbai, and thus made the
day memorable and successful.
