Voice of Dignity Adhikaris

The volunteers by the name of Adhikaris in the project Voice of Dignity are great mobilisers in local areas. They are the official, anointed motivators to bring in people to join in their voices for demands.

Adhikaris are assisted by Upadhikaris, Mahila Adhikaris – a team of three run the monthly meetings to dissect the topic of the month that vexes them the most.

The Head Office in Mumbai churns issues and topics of burning interest and significance. They are transmitted to VODAs by email. Adhikaris send back response through email back to Head Office for the publication Voice of Dignity.
 

Roles and Responsibilities of VODAs

 

1.
To be the Leader of Zone – 1 among 227 in Mumbai – which will be Model for all Zones across the country, which we will open soon. Man or Woman. He/She will get the VODA Card signed by the President of Dignity Foundation .
2.
You have to constitute your TEAM of Three –
a. Adhikari – yourself
b. UpAdhikari
c. Lady Adhikari
Many have already enrolled on 29th. New Torch Bearers will keep enrolling too. You have to select who suits you most. We will also keep sending you Forms registerd here at the Head Office.
3.
Eleven Requisites for serving the senior citizens movement as VOD Adhikari:
1.
A commanding comprehension power
2.
Knows about Citizens rights and responsibilities
3.
Can articulate and discuss the problems of senior citizens
4.
Good newspaper reader; Good general knowledge
5.
Educational level that supports intelligent discussion and absorbing capacity to understand and admit other voices in the Zone.
6.
Leadership skills
7.
Ability to control the group, have top class PR skills
8.
Friendly, presentable, Confident
9.
Hindi/ English proficiency
10.
Ability to speak; Oratory
11.
COMPUTER LITERACY
 
The Adhikari volunteer has to select the Team of Three – himself/herself as Adhikari, Upadhikari and Mahila Adhikari and the VOD Secretariat will provide new members list also -- in such a way that between the three of them , the Team has all the qualities required for the Zonal Group to manage the Group ably; manage with efficiency, promptness and through email.
4.
You have to select a place to hold meetings: Schools, College; Factory Canteens; company canteens; church, temple, patshala, Madrassa BMC Welfare Centres.. Take my LETTER OF REQUEST now.
5.
ATTRACTION TO STUDENTS -- To space providers, you can tell them specially if it is college that students can witness the growth of this social movement. They can join, not for discussion. But as OBSERVERS. And when I come they can be specially invited to take part.
6.
Every week, without fail, hold meetings. If you are busy, or not well, or absent, your Deputy will conduct the mtgs.
7.
Every meeting will being with signing of Anthem and end with singing of Anthem – hindi or Marathi
8.
Minutes of last meeting will be red out loud by the Adhikari. Minutes of current meeting will be recorded by the VODA.
9.
VOD Secretariat will send you TOPIC OF THE WEEK by email to an email address you will give to me.
10.
Dr.Sheilu Sreenivasan email ID is dignity@vsnl.com. Moni Bhushan’s is moni.dignity@gmail.com . You have to send us your email ID by email.
11.
Every TOPIC OF THE WEEK will also have an explanation Note. It will also have a number of questions. Questions to which you have to get answers. Every good and intelligent answer has to be recorded by you. At the end, minutes have to be signed by all the three members of the Team in a REGISTER we will provide.
12.
Minutes will have to be sent by email not later than 48 hours after the meeting is over.
13.
The TOPIC OF THE WEEK will be given to you well in advance of the meeting date. Anyway, you have to read it, and ask questions listed in it.
14.
VODA of the month will be duly recognised every month. Media coverage and articles in the newspapers will be organised by the VOD Secretariat.
15.
VODA cannot admit discussion of any other subject by any other person – without permission of the VOD Secretariat. Some announcements can be made by any member of the VOD. Outsiders will not be permitted to attend meetings if they are not Torch Bearers.
16.
The VODAs are authorized to admit Torch Bearers by asking them to fill up the Enrolment Form. And taking Rs.5 towards admission card. Admission cards will be in possession of the VODAs – 100 each one will have at a time. At the end when cards are over, when you want new cards, you will submit the money collected and take new Cards and Enrolment Forms.
17.
REGISTERS – The following will be maintained.
a.
All members by name with columns of attendance month-wise
b.
Minutes Book where Torch Bearers voices will be recorded – good points jotted down. To be signed by all the 3 Team Members
c.
Accounts book where every Torch Bearer starting from VODA and two assistants, will be recorded and money given also jotted down.
d.
Files consisting of Emails received and any other correspondence , non-electronic, received by the VODA Team.
18.
We will keep evolving the system one by one – there will be plenty of additions and newer ideas as we go along.
19.
VODAs will allow every member to speak up if and when they want to. The VODA and his team will NOT STOP anyone from making his/her point. You have to assure them that “Your Voice” will be heard at the VODA Secretariat, and eventually by the Board of Advisors , President of Dignity Foundation
