Dignity Lifestyle Retirement Township

Arising out of the expressed need for special accommodation options for senior citizens Dignity Foundation set up in 2004 a separate Public Trust called Dignity Lifestyle Trust.

The objects of this Trust are

  • To establish, take over, run, manage, maintain a centre or centres for senior citizens or retirement homes, half-way homes or old peoples’ homes with facilities for boarding, lodging, health-care, nutrition, recreation, vocational training, income generation activities, etc., as may be necessary and on such terms and conditions as the trustees at their absolute discretion may decide from time to time;
  • To establish and manage or encourage and assist existing or new facilities for the geriatric-care, treatment, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and comfort of senior citizens, especially those suffering from chronic diseases of old age like Alzheimer’s, senile dementia, immobility and any other mental or phisical disability;
  • To establish or support facilities for nature cure, yoga, ayurveda, homeopathy and other mainstream and alternate systems of medicine and therapy for the benefit of senior citizens;
  • To provide training, guidance and opportunities to senior citizens to continue living an active and productive life and engage themselves in study, recreation, voluntary service, social activities or giving expression to their creativity and skills;
  • To construct buildings and houses or housing complexes for senior citizens where they can live peacefully with other senior citizens with proper facilities, full dignity and security;
  • To provide facilities of a transit camp or camps to deserving senior citizens in need of temporary shelter, care and security;
  • To encourage, support and assist in the promotion of entrepreneurship and self-employment among senior citizens in all possible manner including, but not limited to, providing training, imparting skills, vocational guidance and making available financial support by way of grants or interest-free loans, determined from time to time and on the merits of each individual case;
  • To undertake, encourage or support studies and research on various issues concerning senior citizens in any geographical regions of the country and initiate, encourage, support various programmes for addressing the same;
  • To support and encourage among senior citizens the study, training and education in computer skills, technical skills, handicrafts, fine arts, dance, drama, sculpture, tribal/ethnic art and all other expressions of human creativity and skill;
  • To encourage, guide, assist and train senior citizens in making various social security provisions for their old age such as savings, medi-claim, insurance and the judicious investment of all their resources;
  • To edit, print, publish or cause to edit, print, publish books, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, journals, periodicals, pamphlets, brochures for the advancement and dissemination of useful, educative and informative material particularly for and concerning senior citizens;
  • To undertake or support the initiative of an individual, group or organization in promoting better health-care facilities, particularly among senior citizens;
  • To establish, take over, run, maintain, assist and support other senior citizens homes or any other institution or associations for senior citizens;
  • To provide direct relief measures or medical aid or provide financial assistance to deserving senior citizens;
  • To create and promote enlightened public opinion on various issues affecting senior citizens;
  • To take up, if necessary, litigation in a competent court of law and take any other lawful measures to safeguard the rights and interests of the trust as also of all senior citizens;
  • To serve as a think tank, discuss and deliberate various issues at various forums for improving the quality of life for senior citizens;
  • To create awareness and a sense of vigilance and responsibility among senior citizens;
  • To promote national integration and encourage, support and develop social welfare programmes for balanced growth of the nation and senior citizens in particular;
  • To help the planning process and ensure enforcement, both in letter and spirit of laws, relevant to planning and development especially concerning senior citizens;
  • To encourage education in the field of “rights of Senior Citizens” with equal knowledge and responsibility towards asserting one’s rights and fulfilling one’s duties and to be of practical assistance to affected senior citizens by ensuring fair hearing and justice to their grievances, especially with regard to civic and public utilities;
  • To strive for judicial effectiveness at all levels to make speedy and effective justice available to all sections of society, particularly senior citizens;
  • To undertake or provide all assistance in case of death, including the performance of death ceremonies, the proper disposal of the dead bodies, performance of obsequies and ceremonies relating to the dead;
  • To provide financial or any other assistance towards relief and rehabilitation of the populace affected by calamities like cyclones, earthquakes, epidemics, fire, famine, floods, war, riots, etc.;
  • To establish, maintain or support dharamshalas, rest houses, convalescing homes, health and immunisation camps and infirmaries for senior citizens;
  • To encourage training and coaching among senior citizens for yoga, music, dance, drama, arts or achieving excellence in the field of sports;
  • To establish or help in the establishment of, or support, institutions providing facilities for training and practice in various indoor and outdoor competitive games for senior citizens;
  • To provide facilities of equipment and training, including the establishment of gymnasiums, playgrounds, stadiums, swimming pools, etc for senior citizens;
  • To provide coaching facilities and provide every other assistance to talented and promising senior citizens, including stipends, recognition, sponsorship and special training, both within the country and abroad;
  • To manage other trust funds or create ear-marked funds within the trust and manage the ear-marked funds according to the intentions and wishes of the founders/donors;
  • To act as executor of wills where the testator may have left his/her entire assets/properties or part of the same, for charitable purposes;
  • To promote, encourage and support public service advertising in the media and also produce or cause to produce audio and/or visual material on various issues concerning senior citizens;
  • To initiate, promote, encourage or support programmes for self defence, self-security, building character and inculcating sound social, moral, ethical and spiritual values among senior citizens;
  • To organize or participate in local, national or international conferences, seminars, symposiums, workshops, meetings or any other public forum particularly concerning senior citizens;
  • To promote, maintain or assist all activities by whomsoever or wheresoever carried on in India, in conformity with the objects of the trust and as are conducive to the well-being and general welfare of the society particularly senior citizens or are conducive to the advancement of any object of general public utility;

Dignity Lifestyle Retirement Township

Called Dignity Lifestyle Retirement Township the first township came into being on April 1, 2006.
