  DIGNITY HOME MIRA ROAD
For the less privileged senior citizens (55+) admissions are available in a home in Mira Road. It is dedicated to the care of senior citizens in a healthy, hygienic environment.

We have paid maximum attention to aspects of care that senior citizens need: such as good nutritious food, medical attention, entertainment, mind stimulating activities, companionship and such others. Very nominal charges.

For recommending deserving senior citizens please contact

Mira Road Home started functioning from June 1st 2007. Gruhapravesam Puja was performed on May 13th 2007.
This Home is very different from other Old age Homes. A Row House of three storeys is converted into Dignity Homes.
The location of the Home is in a very quite area, still close to the main road. The road is a dead end so not much traffic.
Dignity Foundation’s motto is to take care of Senior Citizens and not just give the seniors a place to live. Mira Road residents are encouraged to nourish good mood and all their needs -- Physical as well as mental -- are taken care of.
There are 5 beds in the ground floor, 3 beds in the First floor and 2 beds in the second floor. One room in the second floor is converted into an office. All residents are given a steel cupboard for personal use. We have a Washing Machine to regularly wash the residents’ personal clothes and also the bed linens and the curtains.
The Cook and the three Housekeeping boys live here with the residents. Our Nurse comes on a 12hr. duty. One lady assistant comes on 8hr. duty 9am to 5pm and the other lady assistant comes from 8pm to 5am. The Nurse and the lady assistant help the residents with their daily chores like helping them brush their teeth, helping in giving them bath, keeping them well groomed.
At 8.30am Breakfast is served. Tea or coffee is served either before or after breakfast.

At 11.30am all of us gather in the First floor open air balcony which can seat all our members and the staff comfortably. We put on the cassette and listen to Bhajans while the residents are doing their exercise and sit in a circle to play with the plastic ball. Each one throws the ball to the other member who catches it. This helps in mind and hand co-ordination. The residents are given some exercises adviced by the Occupational therapist. Till 1pm these activities go on.
From 2.30pm to 4pm all residents take a nap which is very much essential. At 4pm Tea is served.
4.30pm again everybody gathers in the First floor open area for a round of other games like Carrom Board, Spell-o-Fun, Snakes and ladders or Lido. While they are playing, the radio is switched on, to hear some latest Hindi music. After 6.30pm all of them watch TV for a couple of hours as every room has a TV Cable connection. Dinner is served at 8.15pm.
There is a DVD player. We show movies on certain days. We have a Casette, Radio, VCD player.
On Wednesday evening at 4.30pm the doctor comes for checkups. Our residents are members of Topsline Emergency services. When an emergency occurs, Topsline takes care of taking the member to the nearest hospital. Their Vehicle is equipped with para medical staff and equipments. For regular Blood check ups, we have a person coming to collect blood and we have taken help of The Community Health Centre at Bhakti Vedanta Hospital for consultation and investigations.
We celebrate all the important festivals. Recently we celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi. Some pictures are attached with this article. On Oct. 15th we are having Dandiya in the evening for 2 hrs. to celebrate Navratri. Residents’ family or friends can visit the Home at any time preferably in th emornings before lunch or after 5pm. Residents are free to visit their family or friends fro an overnight stay or for couple of days. There is no restriction on people visiting or for residents social visits.
There is a complete team effort in running Dignity Homes at Mira Road. Our aim is to reach out to the senior citizens and give them all the love and care to have a good time while they are staying with us.
