Background
At a time when the Police force in Indian metroes are worried
about increasing violence to senior citizens, in two cities the Police
have tied up with Dignity Foundation in a door to door care delivery to
senior citizens living alone. In Mumbai on June 23rd and Kolkata on June
29th, 2008 the Polcie Commissioners have inaugurated the NGO effort as
a joint action programme with Police.
Following the Mumbai example, Kolkata Police came forward to jointly have
an open house meet of Senior Citizens of South Kolkata where Commissioner
of Police presided over and answered many doubts in the minds of seniors
about their new project -- of contacting and creating a data bank on seniors
who are vulnerable to attacks from all fronts. This means taking a survey
by Kolkata Police and Dignity Foundation together to all the highrise bldgs
as also houses where Seniors are housed. In order to create a curiosity
what they are going to do DC South, Rajesh Subarno a dynamic IPS officer decided
to spearhead and hold a Press Conference with noted newspaper men.
DC South Sri Rajesh Subarno, who is taking active interest
in providing Security with Dignity teamed with usTuesday the 24th June
2008 for a press conference as a prelude to open house on 29th June, 2008.
This press meet was attended by about 14 Press people.
Star Ananda is telecasting the interview at 6 p.m on 24th .
Pandal was erected in front of Dignity Foundation office and snacks and tea
were all provided by Police.
