1. OPEN BRIDGE TOURNAMENT - 24 TH AND 25TH FEBRUARY 2007

Though Bridge started as a means of relaxation and enjoyment, the activity has generated so much interest and enthusiasm that with the help of Mrs. Hema Deora,Dignity held a Bridge Festival at the Foundation premises at Topiwala Lane on September 2006. Mrs. Deora, an international player of repute, needs no introduction to the Bridge fraternity. Not only did she inaugurate the Bridge Festival, but she also motivated our players by gifting boards and bidding boxes.

She has been such a source of inspiration that the Foundation has been emboldened to hold the Dignity Open Bridge Tournament for senior citizens of 50 plus under the auspices of the Maharashtra Bridge Association on February 23 – 24 , 2007 . The tournament, was again inaugurated by Mrs. Deora, with Dr. Sheilu Sreenivasan, the President, , who has inspired and supported the activity of Bridge at Dignity, welcoming the dignitaries at the inaugural function.Deviating from the standard practice of awarding the first three winners, Mrs. Deora contributed towards prizes for those in the 4 th , 5 th and 6 th position, in order to encourage more seniors to come forward.

Fourteen14 pairs of seniors competed in this very first Open Bridge tournament organized by Dignity. We also had players of national standing participating like Dr.Vahalia, Mr.Umesh Athavale, Ms.Usha Joshi, Mr.M.D. Shirsekar, Mr.P.S. Chiplunkar, Mr.Moghe and many more. Many of the participants, even at the age of 80 were such Bridge enthusiasts that some had even traveled far from the suburbs.
