First exclusive job portal for senior citizens in India launched

Log on to www.dignitysecondcareers.org for exciting second career opportunities

Chennai, August 2, 2008: ActivAge, a joint initiative between ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and Dignity Foundation, announced the launch of www.dignitysecondcareers.org, today. The first-of-its-kind job portal is dedicated to providing second career counseling and placement services exclusively for senior citizens. The portal was inaugurated by Ms. Shikha Sharma, Managing Director & CEO, ICICI Prudential Life and the chief guest for the program was Mr. M.V. Subbaiah, Former Chairman, Murugappa Group. Dr. Sheilu Sreenivasan, Founder President, Dignity Foundation, provided an overview of the portal to the gathering.

http://www.dignitysecondcareers.org, the country's first job portal exclusively meant for senior citizens, has been launched to encourage retirees and individuals in the fifty-plus segment, to lead a more holistic and active post-retirement life. This job portal will provide retirees a platform to explore opportunities that will enable them to continue to utilize their expertise and skills. Second career options are available for both part-time and full time jobs in the corporate sector as well as in the NGO segment.

On unveiling the job portal in Chennai, Ms. Shikha Sharma, Managing Director & CEO, ICICI Prudential Life, said, "We realize that financial independence is one of the key determinants for a satisfying life post-retirement. Therefore, in sync with our core proposition that life after retirement should be spent meaningfully, ICICI Prudential Life and Dignity Foundation under the aegis of ActivAge, will offer this unique opportunity for the senior citizens. The second careers job portal will bring together companies who are open to enrich and benefit from the rich experiences of the retired citizens, and senior citizens who are enthusiastic to pursue careers post their retirement. We are confident that through this website and our other initiatives, we will be able to popularize the concept of re-employment of senior citizens within the country"

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Sheilu Sreenivasan, Founder President, Dignity Foundation, said, "It is our privilege to provide second career opportunities to the senior citizens of the country. In our experience we have seen that there is a sizeable population of senior citizens who wish to put their expertise to good use and want to work again. Many retirees seek either part-time or full time opportunities in the corporate sector, as they are still active and can contribute to the various functions within a company. We recognized this need and have converted the second careers website into a full-fledged job portal to facilitate retirees from all over the country to go back into engagement in the corporate world."

The portal, www.dignitysecondcareers.org, has been designed to be a virtual platform which can be accessed by retirees and employers for preliminary skills-job fit assessment. Retirees from across the country as well as companies and social organisations can access the job portal to mutual advantage. Senior citizens can upload their resumes on www.dignitysecondcareers.org. These resumes can be accessed by both ICICI Prudential Life and other prospective employers who will offer the unique opportunity for senior citizens to explore second career options.
