LAUNCH - 19 January, 2010

The elder citizens of Mumbai get a fresh lease of life with over 24 services to avail from and contribute to the cause of senior citizens

Mumbai, January 19th 2010: Dignity Foundation, an NGO working for the cause and care of elderly citizens, launched a set of unique services and privileges for the 50+ citizens through the Dignity Donor Privilege Programme (DDPP) today. Through this launch and revamped programme, Dignity Foundation plans to reach out with its services to the 91 million senior citizens of our country. Every member of the DDPP becomes a donor to support the social cause of elder citizens in India while enjoying the benefits of their association with the Dignity Foundation.

Under the renewed Dignity Donor Privilege Programme, Dignity Foundation would be providing the members the following benefits - Dignity Dialogue Magazine, Dignity Second Careers, 24 x 7 Helpline, Networking with peers, Dignity Discounts, Dignity Special Events, Trusted Information on call, Volunteer at Will, Professional Counsel and Security with Dignity in addition to several other benefits.

The Brand Ambassador of Dignity Foundation and renowned Bollywood personality, Tanuja Mukerji graced the occasion. Commenting on her association with the Foundation she said "Dignity Foundation has been dedicated to the cause and care of the elderly citizens over a decade and it makes me extremely proud to endorse the cause. This new initiative is a step forward to elevate the status of senior citizens by enabling them to lead a productive second innings."

The Founder President, Dignity Foundation Dr. Sheilu Sreenivasan commenting on the launch said "We are excited and very proud about the launch of the Dignity Donour Privilege Programme. Through this revamped launch of our service, we are aiming to make a difference in the lives of elderly citizens over 50 years of age across cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai. Additionally, we are also launching the colored version of our magazine Dignity Dialogue on-stands in English and Hindi. Through the magazine, we plan to lobby for retirement and senior citizen policies. The magazine would also serve as a platform to mobilize senior citizens' participation through articulation of ideas to build a more caring society."

Commenting on the launch of DDPP, Mr. Sujit Ganguli, Senior VP & Head-Marketing, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance , one of the leading private life insurance companies in India said, "We have been associated with Dignity Foundation since three years in working towards promoting and facilitating the concept of productive ageing amongst the 50-plus citizens in India. With the launch of DDPP, we are set to take our association with Dignity Foundation to the next level by reaching out to more elderly citizens and by enabling them to lead a more active, wholesome life and age productively."

The first Dignity Donor Privilege Programme Card was gifted by renowned TV actress Ms. Sakshi Tanwar (of Parvati fame from Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki) to Mrs. Sudha Shivpuri (of Ba fame from Kyon Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) to reiterate the commitment of the younger generation towards the cause and care of the elderly citizens.

Dignity Foundation is associated with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) as an Associate Federation member. Mr. Tulip Shah, Vice President, AARP was present to grace the occasion.
