Advocacy

At Dignity Foundation we define 'Advocacy' as the act of pleading for, supporting, or recommending policies and action that benefit the larger community of senior citizens in India. It means an active espousal of our cause of productive ageing. The implicit assumption is that we are not the only one running our practice! The government continually impacts our practice and policy as an NGO. So in turn it means that we can impact the government!

At Dignity Foundation Advocacy is undertaken through Communication;
Consistent message; Coordination and Coalition-Building with other organisations. Advocacy requires a sustained and organised commitment.

We assume we have Processes to influence -- Legislative Process, where laws are made. Regulatory Process, where rules are made and laws are implemented.

Our Advocacy Levels include

  • Central Government Ministers and all elected reps.
  • State Government Ministers and all elected reps.
  • Regulatory bodies such a IRDA, Tax authorities, Medical Boards.
  • Local Municipal Corporation and its elected reps – 5 cities.
